This class examines environmental themes in Japanese cinema: documentary, live action, monster and animated films from 1970-2019. Themes include: human-nature relationships, toxic environments, monster movies as eco-narratives, and landscape in environmental film.

No knowledge of Japanese or Japanese film is required.
