Yue Chen is a doctoral candidate in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures. After earning a B.A. in Chinese Literature at Beijing Language and Culture University, she studied Cultural Production at Brandeis University. She is currently doing a research about the Manchurian Motion Picture Association. This project focuses on film, aesthetics and spectatorship, including their relations to issues of ideology, international power structure and modernity. Her research interests include modern Chinese literature, Japanese film, and Chinese popular culture.
