This class combines study of Chinese language and culture to facilitate student skills in spoken Chinese and in intercultural communication. Classwork is designed for students with no background in Chinese language who may be interested in future professional encounters in China, or simply in travel and experience in China. This is a course for students who are not majoring in Chinese, but who may be interested in China because of interests in business, science, architecture, or other fields for which China expertise may be useful. The emphasis is basic communication and cultural competence in a variety of professional situations. No prior Chinese language study is required.
